Principal's Message November 2021

Dear Celia Cruz Community,
Now that school has been back in session, and things are running smoothly, I want to turn your attention to student learning. Wednesday, November 10 and Friday, November 12 were our Fall scheduled parent-teacher conferences. I invite everyone to continue to schedule appointments directly with teachers to keep up to date on your child's progress.

I encourage you to continue to communicate with teachers to learn about your student's grades and gain insight into how they are doing when not at home.

Some discussion topics:
  1. What are my child's academic strengths and weaknesses?
  2. Is my child on grade level?
  3. How is my child doing socially?
  4. May I share a concern?  May I tell you about something at home?
  5. How can I help at home to support what you're doing in the classroom?
Asking questions like these will enable parents and guardians to become more actively engaged in their student's learning and provide helpful insight.
With information about grades and ways to support your student at home, you will be better prepared for the second academic quarter beginning soon. In addition, you can catch potential problems before they happen.  We at the Celia Cruz High School of Music believe that preventing academic and social issues is much more effective than responding to concerns after they have already happened.  As a parent and guardian, communication is essential, and the more we know about your student, the better.
As parent-teacher conferences are quick meetings, take a few moments to develop your approach and know what you need to ask and what you need to tell. Finally, I encourage you to stay in touch with teachers through Jupiter Grades and if you think of a question later or want to continue a conversation, reach out at any time.
As always, I am here to support the Celia Cruz community. Contact me any time!
