Onassis Manuel Tavarez was born in San Cristobal, Dominican Republic, grew up in the Bronx, and graduated from the South Bronx High School. At Lehman College, he studied Latin American History and Bilingual, and soon after became a Social Studies teacher. He is happily married with two beautiful children.
